Celebrating Identity and New Beginnings

Naming Ceremonies

A naming ceremony is a meaningful way to articulate the special bond between family and friends.

Unlike formal christenings, Naming Ceremonies are non-religious and allow parents to officially name their child in front of loved ones. During a Naming Ceremony, parents express their commitment to the child, and share hopes and dreams for the child’s future. For stepchildren or adopted children, officially announcing their place in the family is significant.

Naming ceremonies are also a way of giving family members and close friends an enduring supportive role in the child’s life by appointing them as godparents or guide-parents. This is a very important step for a parent.

While naming ceremonies are non-religious, they can include religious elements if desired, along with symbolic acts such as sand ceremonies, tree-planting, or hand and foot printing and many more. They can be personalised with readings, music and meaningful touches that reflect your unique story, and officiated in a wide variety of locations including your home for a truly special occasion for you and your loved ones.

Renaming    Ceremonies

Officially announcing your new name in front of family and friends is significant and cause for celebration, whether you choose to celebrate with only a handful of people present or prefer to have a large gathering.

One of the most meaningful steps in the process of transitioning is choosing a name, whatever your gender identity and gender pronouns. A renaming ceremony is a wonderful celebration of your authentic self and a heartfelt way for family and friends to promise to be accepting and supportive.
